NEW THIS WEEK!! Tell us your name & answer the question - "Why did you start your blog?"

For those of you that don't know (or didn't figure out), my name is Missy. I guess the best and easiest way to explain why I started a blog is I'm very passionate about things I love - especially books - and my husband was getting really tired of hearing about books constantly. In his defense, I do read too much, so he was hearing it ALL the time. ;) With this blog, I not only get to share my thoughts on books, but I also get to share book-news with others that care ... and, the best part is I get to meet a lot of people that share my passion for books.

Ready to join in on the Hop? Click here to share your link to your blog!

Official Eclipse Movie Release Day

That's right ... today is the release day of one of the most highly anticipated movies of 2010 for me. I was going to wait until this afternoon to watch the movie with my husband, but my best friend asked if I would go with her to the local drive-in here ... and who could resist that? Especially when my husband told me I needed to go to make up for the midnight release of New Moon at the drive-in last year (it was fogged out and I had to wait three days to see it). So, off we went with her husband and sisters. You guys, I have to say that Eclipse was my absolute favorite. While 30 Days Of Night was good, I was so skeptical of its director doing a paranormal movie basely made for teens (and tweens) as well as adults. I will never doubt again. And the actors? I thought Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson both added more depth to their characters. All of the other actors were just as good and I'm so glad that we had more face time from the Cullen clan -- especially Jasper. Jackson Rathbone, I tip my hat off to you! He really brought Jasper alive for me and I'm so glad to finally hear Jasper's southern accent come through. For the most part, the movie covered most of my favorite scenes from the book. Of course there were things that I wish were different and/or included. However, it was only a two-hour long movie and there was no way they could have covered 600+ pages of material in that length of time without getting choppy and confusing. As it was, the transition from one scene to another was almost flawless. As my favorite Twilight book, I have to say that the adaptation lived up to my expectations. Best yet!!

Almost to Die For (Vampire Princess of St. Paul, Book 1)
by Tate Hallaway
256 Pages
Published by NAL Trade
Release Date August 3, 2010

On her sixteenth birthday, Anastasija Parker's present winds up being the shock of a lifetime. When her mom referred to her absentee dad as a deadbeat it was actually half true -- he's a vampire. And a king, no less. A king who wants his daughter to assume her rightful position at his side. But, thanks to Ana's mother, the blood of a witch also runs through her veins....

Too bad vampires and witches are mortal enemies.

With her parents gearing up for an all out brawl over her destiny, Ana's about ready to scream. But things get even crazier when a male witch and a brooding bad boy vampire start vying for her affection. Then the barely leashed tension between the vampires and the witches starts to boil over, and Ana has to figure out once and for all if she wants to become heir to her dad's throne. And deciding your eternal destiny is a pretty big deal for a girl who just wants to get through high school.

I've heard of this author and her Garnet Lacey series - which have been given good ratings by those that I have asked. As you guys know, I am loving some vampires and have for quite some time (well over a decade). So, I'm definitely looking forward to this one. That, and it sounds slightly like another book I've read and adored. I think that's more fun -- to read similar books and see the different directions that authors can take it!

Teaser Tuesdays!

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by MizB @ Should Be Reading.

· Grab your current read.
· Open to a random page.
· Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page.
· BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!)
· Share the author and title, too, so that the other TT participants can add the book to their TBR lists if they like your teasers!

Beastly, by Alex Flinn

"Let's just kiss for a while."
"Mmm, okay for a little while."
And I kissed her right on the mouth. I expected to feel something, like when I'd changed the other night. But nothing.
"Ick, Kyle. You feel so hairy. You need to shave."
I scrambled away from her, trying to stay between her and the window. "No, I didn't shave today. I told you I've been sick."

Get To Know: Gena Showalter (& Giveaway)

For a Monday, I'm pretty happy. I have two reasons for this. The first is you guys ... my faithful and my brand new followers. I came home after a long weekend to over 80 followers, which I think is amazing. I started this blog as a hobby and some way to talk out about books I've read because my husband is tired of hearing my banter. I never expected for others to actually like my posts and follow my blog. So, thank you all for making me feel special!

The second reason? The Darkest Lie is released tomorrow!! After all of my chatter about Gena and her Lords of the Underworld series, this probably doesn't surprise you. ;)

Since I'm trying to do new things with this blog, I thought I'd start with a shameless promotion post for Gena's books. After all, this blog is solely about all things book-related ... and what good would it be if I didn't promote my favorite author(s) and their books? So, here's the deal. I'm going to post a little 411 about Gena and her books, then I'm going to take it one step further. To celebrate the release of Gena's new books and my followers, I'm going to host my FIRST GIVEAWAY. Great, right?! The details of the giveaway will be at the end of this post.

Gena Showalter started her writing career at the age of 27 with the publication of her first book, The Stone Prince, in 2004. Six years later, Gena has well over two dozen books in her arsenal, not including the several anthologies she has contributed to over the years.

From eHarlequin:

Gena Showalter has always believed in love. An avid romance reader, she decided to try her hand at a story of her own and is now the author of sexy paranormal romances, including The Stone Prince, The Pleasure Slave and Heart of the Dragon. She is also the author of Awaken Me Darkly, the first in the darkly seductive Alien Huntress series. Fans of Sherrilyn Kenyon and Karen Marie Moning will find a new favorite in Showalter. Her wildly sensual page-turners have mix of humor, danger and wickedly hot sex, a combination sure to enthrall.
